this paper analyzes the experience of the Teatro del Pueblo, Puerto La Plata between 1933 and 1936. A representative and at the same time singular example of the political theater experiences of the time, this project was part of the vast repertoire of cultural activities of the Socialist Party in the interwar years. In this sense, the main goal is to analyze it in relation to the tensions between the cultural guidelines that the Party sought to promote and the challenge that the products of mass culture presented to these logics. In this regard, the experience directed by Guillermo Korn proved to be an original case within the partisan proposals since its success was achieved without making concessions to the genres of mass culture.
