Abstract

The research aims in general to identify the current situation of fish production and consumption in the Arab Republic of Egypt during the period (2000-2020) through: 1- Studying the current situation of fish production (the development of fish production from its various sources - the development of fish production from fish farming - The development of fish production from various capture fisheries, 2- The development of food security indicators (the development of available for consumption, the gap and the rate of self-sufficiency in fish- the development of indicators for the periods of production adequacy, import coverage, strategic stocks and food security coefficients in fish for local consumption in Egypt), and the research relied on Descriptive and quantitative analysis methods through the use of some mathematical and statistical measures such as regression and correlation methods, and the most important measures of central tendency and dispersion using Excel 2019 and spss Ver. Its subsidiaries such as the Economic Affairs Sector, the Central Administration of Agricultural Economy and the Fisheries Authority, as well as from the central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics and its website www.capmas.gov. eg, the website of the World Bank www.databank.worldbank.org, and the website of the General Authority for Fish Resources Development www.gafrd.org, in addition to the use of data contained in many Studies, research and messages related to the topic of study. The most important findings of the research were: that fish production from natural fisheries decreased at an annual rate of about 1.78 thousand tons, and fish production from fish farming an annual increase of about 67.78, and total fish production increased annually by about 66.0 thousand tons, and fish production from farms Eligibility: an annual increase of about 57.46 thousand tons, and fish production from floating cages, an annual increase of about 11.78 thousand tons, and fish production from rice fields at an annual decreasing rate of about 0.052 thousand tons, and fish production from government farms, an annual increase of about 0.56 thousand tons, and production Fish from intensive culture at an annual increase rate of about 0.108 thousand tons, fish production from marine waters decreased annually by about 1.45 thousand tons, fish production from lakes increased annually by about 1.73 thousand tons, and fish production from fresh water at an annual decrease rate of about 2.06 thousand tons, and that there is a decrease in the average per capita share of local production of fish, as well as a decrease in the average per capita consumption in the recent period, and this may be due to the increase in the population in addition to the decrease in Egypt’s production of fish Fish, and that there has been a decrease in the food security factor of fish in the recent period, and this is consistent with the previous results that were reached in terms of a decrease in the average per capita consumption of fish, an increase in the population and a decrease in the percentage of self-sufficiency from it.
