Abstract
- The article reports on the problems in the aviation system that caused delayed or canceled flights across the U.S. in December 2022 and was traced by the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to a damaged database file. It shows efforts of the FAA to fix the problem and its failure to modernize its technological systems due to lack of funding and absence of a permanent leader. Other problems facing the FAA are shortage of air traffic controllers and failure to ensure aircraft safety.
