Abstract

International trade, which has increased in importance with economic globalization, has important effects on many economic indicators of countries. However, it should not be ignored that international trade can have noneconomic consequences as well as economic consequences. It is thought that international trade also affects the health field of countries. It is thought that the development of new technologies and the fact that these technologies are subject to commercial exchange between countries through increasing international trade affect the health sectors of the countries as well as the health indicators. With this in mind, in this study, the possible effects of international trade on child health were investigated with the help of panel data analysis by taking annual data for the Newly Industrialized Countries (NIC) covering the period between 1981 and 2019. The results of the study show that international trade has a positive effect on child health, and positive developments are experienced in the field of child health with increasing international trade.
