Abstract

The aim of this research is to characterize the recontextualization process of the concepts of biodiversity and citizenship from the analysis of a teacher training course. Content analysis was used to verify the existence of the dimensions of biodiversity and citizenship in the preparation of educational activities by the course participants, from previous conceptions to the final formulation of the activity. Speeches were recorded, transcribed, and categorized. In the previous planning, the dimensions of citizenship hardly appear. However, after contact with the dimensions, there was a statistically significant increase in discussions that included them. A recontextualization of the concepts was identified in the speeches of the course participants. We conclude that the training of science teachers should permeates the spheres of biodiversity and citizenship to achieve cultural transformation and overcome unequal socio-environmental situations.
