Abstract

The disorderly growth in the large cities of Latin America has led to an increase in residential segregation, especially in peripheral neighborhoods with structural and material conditions of poverty, lacking urban equipment and basic public services for the development of the daily activities that affect the quality of life of its inhabitants. Through a qualitative methodological approach and from the perception of the residents, this work analyzes the mobility problem present in the peripheral neighborhood of Lomas del Centinela in Zapopan, Jalisco, identifying the main impacts on your daily life. In relation, it is considered that the deficit or the precarious existence of urban facilities and public spaces that must be accessed by streets and sidewalks with inadequate physical conditions makes daily mobility difficult and increases the conditions of residential segregation, which has a negative impact on the performance of the activities and tasks considered fundamental by the population that inhabits the peripheral settlements of the metropolitan areas.
