Abstract

Introduction: Podoposturology is the area that studies postural dysfunctions. In prevention and treatment, it uses the thermomoldable proprioceptive insoles principle, developed by the French René Bordiol in 1980. This principle is based on the action of reliefs, used in the insoles, and placed under the skin and muscles at specific points, to correct the positioning of the foot and body. The parts for the treatment are chosen after a clinical evaluation, which aims to identify the origin of the dysfunction. Correction with postural insoles requires a follow-up from the beginning to the end, so the patient will have a new positioning, without the use of an orthosis, after the treatment. Objective: Conduct a revisional study on postural insoles and podoposturology. Methods: The study consists of a literature review aimed to find information about Podoposturology. Articles, written in Brazilian Portuguese, were searched on the Scielo (Scientific Electronic Library Online), Medline, PubMed, and Lilacs databases. Conclusion: Podoposturology and postural insoles are important tools in rehabilitation since they bring postural benefits and corrections of musculoskeletal changes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
