The novel compound 4-methyl-7-((2-((5-methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)thio)ethyl)thio)-coumarin is obtained in good yield via a two-step protocol; that is, initial synthesis of the reagent 2-((2-chloroethyl)thio)-5-methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole followed by alkylation of 7-mercapto-4-methylcoumarin.
