Comunidade judaica de Curitiba/PR: contribuições às dinâmicas locais resultantes da imigração.

Historically, Curitiba is seen as a city that is effectively formed from the arrival of European migrants - encouraged by national policies to attract demand for the exploitation of land with different crops and population whitening, already preceding the abolition of slavery in 1888 (PENA, 1988 ; BALHANA, 1996; WACHOVICZ, 2001); however, this story is told from a specific perspective, which in turn endorses the imagery of a characteristically agricultural city (and state), and little is discussed about the arrival of these subjects and their relationship with urbanization, because to be expected that this local (trans)formation also includes initiatives from members of these groups who have recently arrived in Paraná. Knowing this, this work aimed to discuss the arrival of the Jewish immigrant to the state capital in the XIX century, showing how, from that, there was a change in the social dynamics of Curitiba. For this objective to be complete, a bibliographical and documental review was carried out in productions dealing with the theme's migrations, the history of Paraná and Curitiba, and Jewish migration, and interviews were also carried out with members of the Jewish group, whose family trajectories intersect with the history of development in Curitiba. It is presented in light of the above that the Jewish community established in the city contributed to local formation, by bringing with it a tradition of urban life and work historically linked to the countries from which its members came; this allowed the newly created state capital to have a daily list of activities until then little or not explored by other groups of established migrants, such as commerce, liberal professions, cultural spaces, among others.
