Abstract
- The city of Joinville has hot summers quite, with temperatures that can exceed 40ºC and thermal sensations of 50ºC or more. The sidewalks absorb this heat from the sun and walking in the city at certain times becomes quite difficult. The afforestation can contribute significantly to the welfare of pedestrians, but the planting and conservation actions are quite complex and the city code named "Flores Towns" or "Garden City", does not have afforestation in a large part of its sidewalks. This article aims to make a diagnosis about the afforestation of sidewalks in the city of Joinville-SC Brazil, thus verifying the quantity and the main species introduced in this space. It also tries to identify who is responsible for planting and conservation, without analyzing whether the trees or shrubs are appropriate for the location. It was found that the sidewalks of the homes are more wooded, especially those in the most economically affluent neighborhoods. The sidewalks of shops in general are the least wooded places in the city. The present research also has discussed the actions of afforestation as landscape action since the beginning of the colonization, revealing that "green already" as part of the Cultural Heritage of its residents, mainly those who inhabit the residences and buildings of that municipality.
