Abstract

We study the process of formation of hydroxyapatite coatings on the surface of commercially pure VT1-0 titanium with preliminarily formed nitride layers by the method of plasma-electrolytic oxidation in an alkaline electrolyte (hydroxyapatite + 1 M potassium hydroxide) under a voltage of 160 V with a deposition time of 1 min. It is established that hydroxyapatite with porous structure is formed more rapidly on the nitride layer with greater number of vacancies in the nonmetallic sublattice of titanium mononitride (TiN0.69) than in the presence of smaller number of vacancies (TiN0.81). It was discovered that, for the hydroxyapatite coating, the Ca/P ratio decreases from 1.62 to 0.96. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
