Abstract

Otherwise, there was no difference in treatments or clinical outcomes between fingernail-only and fingernail/toenail patients. Fingernail/toenail vs. fingernail-only patients more often had tinea pedis history (20% vs. 6% respectively; I p i = 0.048), with no difference in number of fingernails or hands involved (Table 1). Fingernail involvement comprises up to 6% of onychomycosis cases, but has greater quality-of-life impact compared to toenail onychomycosis.[[1], [3]] Since fingernail onychomycosis has not been well studied, our objectives were to retrospectively examine demographics, clinical features, treatments and pathogens in patients with fingernail onychomycosis.
