Abstract
- In 2020 a collaborator of the South Bohemian Museum in České Budějovice discovered a late medieval cross through metal detector survey. The findspot near the village of Chvalešovice in the Týn nad Vltavou region was localized and the cross was handed over to the South Bohemian Museum for assessment. It is a half of a relic cross dating back to the second half of the 15th century which features an image of St Anne with Baby Jesus and Virgin Mary. The cross was described in detail and subjected to elemental composition analysis. The 15th century landscape in the vicinity of Chvalešovice, where the artefact was found, was also evaluated from a topographical and historical viewpoint. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
