Abstract

Objective: Classify the Information Policy concepts hierarchically in a systematic way and observe if there are interrelationships among the concepts. Method. A bibliographic study as a methodological design and the Conceptual Map was used to analyse, synthesize, and represent the concepts of Information Policy. Results. It is considered that the Knowledge Representation, through the concept maps, shows that there are interrelationships of the Information Policy concepts mentioned in this study. Within the scope of national authors, the Information Policy is categorized by the regulatory aspect and the democratic process, therefore, in the context of international authors, the Information Policy was widely perceived as being useful for society and, in a restricted way, it is oriented to some segment. Conclusions: This study made possible to identify the key elementary concepts that constitute the concept of Information Policy, even if not exhaustively, within the scope of the ORC, through concept maps. Finally, the possibility of approximation among the areas that are part of the field of Information Science is emphasized, seeking to draw the Organization and Knowledge Representation closer to the conceptual studies of Information Policy.
