Abstract

This article is based on an example of an intervention carried out in an Activity Clinic perspective, within the municipal cleaning service of the City of Lille. It aims to show how the deliberation organized around work quality criteria can lead operators to influence decisionmaking processes that affect their own work. During this process, they develop their power to act on their own work and take on new responsibilities in the organization, that ensure the continuity of deliberations over time. From the perspective of an "ecology of work", in the long run they thus become "sentinels", watching over the quality of their work from the inside, for their own health, but also outwards, for public health in general.
