No Future? Konsequenzen der Bewerberkrise der informationswissenschaftlichen Studiengänge.

In the past decade, interest in Information Science (B. A.) programs has dropped significantly. This trend is not limited to specific programs but can be observed in varying extent at all regular university programs in the German-speaking countries. This article documents the development at Stuttgart Media University, the countermeasures that have been tried and discusses the mid- and long-term consequences. Besides the programs themselves, this development should be of concern to all kinds of libraries, as it will worsen the already existing lack of qualified staff. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
