Abstract
- Max Besbris's fascinating book makes three important contributions to sociological scholarship on markets and market exchange. As Besbris asserts, "Real estate agents play an undeniable role in shaping home seekers' preferences and decision-making, even when it comes to the seemingly sticky issue of how much a buyer is going to spend" (p. 75). He portrays the different shades of meaning that are part of social interactions between real estate agents and clients and highlights the many daily work practices that assist these market intermediaries in driving up real estate prices.
