The paper will explore the extent to which the various assumptions about foreign policy behaviour of a hegemonic power provide an explanation for South Africa’s foreign policy towards Zimbabwe and to identify the shortcomings of these approaches in explaining or predicting, or as a logical basis for understanding the foreign policy behaviour of South Africa towards Zimbabwe.
