MÉTODO PARA LA COMPRENSIÓN ESTRUCTURAL DE LOS EDIFICIOS HISTÓRICOS A PARTIR DEL LEVANTAMIENTO GRÁFICO POR LÁSER ESCÁNER.

It is well known that the restoration of historical buildings requires prior knowledge of them, which must be as rigorous and exhaustive as possible. Among the various studies that are required (historical, archaeological, construction materials, geotechnical, etc.) the understanding of the structural system is of great importance. It is often hard to interpret these data in this kind of buildings, which have been retrofitted and extended over the years. This paper proposes a replicable method to improve the construction and structural comprehension and assessment of historical buildings, through the analysis of specific sections based on digital surveying by terrestrial laser scanner (TLS). Its application is demonstrated based on a recent case of intervention in a historical building: the Can Armengol Palace in Palma de Mallorca. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
