This review describes epidemiology of mental disorders in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region using traditional method of review. There are 18 studies on mental disorders available to review. It reports that the prevalence rates of mental disorders were 5. 52‰-9. 68%, and the prevalence was higher in female than in male. One study reported the prevalence of psychiatric symptom was 36. 89%. The prevalence rates were 0. 37‰-8. 70% for mood disorder and 9. 7%-60. 2% for symptom of mood disorder, 3. 24%-3. 28% for anxiety disorder and 8. 1%-49. 6% for symptom of anxiety disorder, 2. 72‰-0. 67% for schizophrenia, 0. 98%-5. 64% for dementia, 9. 79%-17. 33% for mild cognitive impairment, and 41. 4%-48. 5% for insomnia. Therefore, it is needed to carry out further systematically epidemiological study on mental disorders in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
