Abstract

• The reversible and non-volatile manipulation of magnetism. • The insertion and extraction of Li+ and H+ in MgFe 2 O 4 under electric field. • Changes of the Fe valence and layer spacing by the ions migration. • Organic lithium citrate has the advantages of convenience, safety, and low cost. Electric-field control of magnetism has attracted much attention in the field of information storage and spintronics. Based on Li+ and H+ ions migration under electric field, the manipulation of magnetic properties in MgFe 2 O 4 films has the advantage of non-volatility, reversibility and cyclicity. This work shows that the magnetism and coercivity are adjusted by the migration of alkali metal ions under electric field at 300 K, which shows great future potential for applications.
