Abstract
- Ian knew John Keates, a prime mover of that Symposium and was on the organizing committee of the highly successful ICA Technical Symposium in Edinburgh in 1964, hosted by the RSGS and the IGU. 26th November 1930 to 18th September 2021 Ian was born in Greenock and the family later moved to Edinburgh. A fundamental aspect of cartography is the assembly of appropriate map content, which Ian understood and he soon had a key role in developing the map compilation section of the company.
