We report on the life and the varied, broad oeuvre of the German cameralist, teacher, lawyer and parliament member Bernhard Sebastian von Nau (1766-1845) who was also active in the field of natural sciences. His herpetological observations and information were so far neither recognized nor analyzed in the relevant literature.
