Abstract

A literary criticism of the book "Arturo, la estrella mas brillante," by Reinaldo Arenas is presented. Topics discussed include depiction of the experiences of a gay man sent to the forced labour camps Unidad Militar de Ayuda a la Produccion (UMAP) in the book, the book's emphasis on the status of escapism, and incorporation of prison-writing studies in the work. It also focuses on the status of male prisoners in the book.
