Abstract
- The article "Everything remains different: Transformations in the Christian-Islamic dialogue" deals with the processes of transformation in the Christian-Islamic dialogue in Germany. There are extensive changes at the structural level in both the Christian churches and the Muslim communities. The establishment of Islamic theology as an academic discipline and professionalization in various areas lead to far-reaching transformations that also affect the dialogue between Christians and Muslims. There is a pluralization of dialogue venues and an increasing number of Muslim theologians, while the number of Christian theologians continues to decline. The cooperation between Christians and Muslims has evolved from advocacy to an equal partnership, although there are still structural obstacles. New Muslim communities and education programs are emerging that meet the needs and challenges and further pluralize the dialogue. There are already Christian-Islamic cooperations in various areas such as emergency pastoral care, education, and welfare. It is suggested that Christian and Islamic chaplains undergo joint training to develop a better understanding of each other. The text discusses the possibility of increased cooperation between the pastoral professions of both religions. It is pointed out that in certain institutions such as hospitals, hospices, care facilities, and prisons, increasingly multi-religious teams are active in pastoral care. The introduction of Islamic religious education in schools is linked to the establishment of faculties for Islamic theology. It is suggested to design interreligious cooperations in religious education and invite teachers of the respective other religion. Furthermore, the possibility of cooperation in school chaplaincy and joint projects between Christian and Muslim communities is discussed. It is emphasized that mutual learning processes and encounters in studies and internships, as well as a common language and translations in public dialogue, are important. The article is about the importance of interreligious dialogue, especially between Christians and Muslims. It is emphasized that it is important for religions to contribute their positions to public discourse and that this can best be achieved through the cooperation of theologians from different religions. Various types of interreligious dialogue are presented, including the dialogue of life, the dialogue of action, theological exchange, and religious experience. The importance of joint projects and cooperation between Christians and Muslims in areas such as environmental ethics, education, and social ethics is also highlighted. The article concludes with the appeal that interreligious dialogue can enable new partnerships and learning processes and that freedom and tolerance towards ambiguity and plurality should be promoted in the church. The article discusses the importance of interreligious dialogue in German society and the role of Muslim communities and institutions. It is argued that Muslim communities need similar support as other religious groups to fulfill their tasks, including the training of imams and chaplains. It is emphasized that politics must create the framework to adequately pay and provide employment opportunities for imams trained in Germany. The article calls for a quick solution to these problems, as the Christian-Islamic dialogue relies on Muslim experts. [Extracted from the article]
