Abstract

The management and execution of a construction project generates a large amount of information in addition to the geographical distance between the headquarters and the execution of the project, the long chain of human resources that commonly intervene, and not very innovative communication methods are factors that affect the productivity of the draft. This study focuses on determining the need, characteristics and requirements of a communication and information transfer system related to the construction industry in Cuenca; through a process of bibliographic review on existing communication systems and information gathering through surveys applied to professionals in the construction industry; all the information collected, processed and analyzed, provides an essential contribution to determine the need and extract general characteristics in the design of the scheme of a communication system that optimizes the construction process. In the development of the work, the results of the surveys were validated with the item theory, verifying their reliability, validity and determination of relevant or latent factors through an exploratory factor analysis. It was determined that the proposed communication system should connect all the professional areas involved in the execution of a construction project; in addition to managing the information centrally, remotely and independently of the geographical location, the transmission is synchronous in eventual changes that immediately affect the project with information stored in the cloud and validated, interconnection with secure social networks in an innovative way, they make the process of efficient and productive construction management.
