LA CAUSA DE LOS LOCOS NO ADMITE MENOR DEMORA: APORTES DEL FRENTE ANTIMANICOMIAL AL PROCESO DE DESMANICOMIALIZACIÓN EN URUGUAY.

This scientific article is a continuity of the research developed by Adjunct Professor Dr. Cecilia Baroni (2019) on her doctoral thesis "Una historia de locos: Aportes de Radio Vilardevoz al proceso de desmanicomialización en Uruguay (1997 - 2017)". This investigation attempts to inquire about the contribution of the social organization "Frente Antimanicomial" during the 2019-2021 period to the field of mental health in relation to social movements and psychology. The qualitative research was accomplished by systematizing and carrying out a documentary analysis of all the actions done by the organization in the period of time previously mentioned, using as documentation public announcements, talks, workshops and film forums carried out by the organization and press releases. It aims to achieve the understanding of the process of deinstitutionalization in Uruguay and give recognition to social movements' roles. This study makes the situation visible regarding Mental Health policies, which have also undergone the coronavirus pandemic. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
