Abstract

Main objective of this research work is to perform fracture analysis of railway rail track. For this analysis finite element analysis has been opted as an analysis tool. A three-dimensional model of railway track and wheel contact was generated using solidworks. For stress and deformation analysis load of (20-100) KN was applied. Von mises stress distribution was evaluated using minimum to maximum load application. Three different types of loading was applied i.e. rolling contact, braking and cornering. FEA analysis results shows that braking load is less responsible for fracture in comparison to rolling and cornering loads. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
