Abstract

In this paper we have investigated the reliability of millimeter wave (mm-wave) radio channel as an indoor solution for 5G network. We have studied the properties of these signals throughout a pre-specified environment. The aim is to assess the performance of these bands as a potential candidate for wireless broadband high data rate. Due to their different propagation characteristics as well as shorter wavelength, it introduces many challenges on the road of 5G standardization. However, this might be compensated by beamforming as well as larger antenna array. Penetration loss is a serious issue in mm-wave band due to their shorter wavelength, therefore, many candidate solutions could be used according to the requirement. Network densification could increase user experience by bringing the excess point closer to users, which will reduce their relative path loss. Beamforming is a mean to concentrate the beam and improve power conveyed in the transmitted signal. The results of ray-tracing simulation show that densification in mm-wave band can improve the coverage probability and provide better signal to indoor users. Furthermore, the indoor solution is a great choice in order to improve user experience and quality of service. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
