Abstract

The article "CURRENT EVENTS" informs about the issuance and circulation of commemorative coins of endangered animals in Spain. The reasons for the sixteen pieces are detailed, which include species such as the ring-tailed lemur, the Cantabrian brown bear, and the Javan rhinoceros. In addition, it is established that the selling price to the public for each coin will be 14 euros. In another article, a collaboration agreement between the Region of Murcia and the Biodiversity Foundation is mentioned for the implementation of actions included in the Life Cerceta Pardilla project, which seeks to conserve the most threatened duck species in Europe. Finally, the Conservation Strategy for threatened birds linked to agro-steppe environments in Spain is presented, which establishes guidelines for the conservation of species such as the little bustard, the Montagu's harrier, and the great bustard. In the Balearic Islands, special conservation areas (ZEC) have been declared, and the Natura 2000 Management Plan Illots del llevant d'Eivissa has been approved. These areas include the sites of community importance (LIC) ES0000082 Tagomago, ES0000242 Illots de Santa Eulària, Rodona i es Canà, and ES5310107 Tagomago Marine Area. The objective of the management plan is to increase knowledge and improve the conservation status of habitats and species of community interest, promote their recovery, prevent degradation, and ensure the development of sustainable activities. The decree-law establishes urgent measures to regulate the exploitation of lithium mineral resources in Extremadura. The exploitation of these resources throughout the autonomous community is declared of general interest, and the concept of exploitation is defined according to basic legislation. The treatment and beneficiation of lithium minerals are regulated, as well as the consequences of non-compliance by the holders of exploitation concessions. In addition, the public utility and social interest of these resources are declared, and concession projects can be processed as regional business projects of interest. The article provides information about the International Congress "From smart cities to inclusive cities: proposals for global governance from the local level," organized by the University of Huelva. The congress will address topics related to smart cities, local legislation, migrations, and practical experiences in the field of smart cities. Prominent academics will participate in the event. In addition, the participation of the International Center for Environmental Law Studies (CIEDA-CIEMAT) in the First Intersectorial EU Wildlife Crime Workshop, organized by WWF Spain, is mentioned. The objective of the project is to deter and reduce crimes against wildlife through the training and education of professionals. [Extracted from the article]
