Abstract

Objective: To analyze the clinical and nutritional profile and the usual food consumption of diabetic amputee patients admitted to a teaching hospital. Methods: conducted ahonor studentcrosswithsample convenience with elderly patients of both sexes admitted to a hospital-school located inside the Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil), May to September 2021. Nutritional status was classified by Body Mass Index and arm circumference. Clinical history data were collected from medical records and the habits and frequency of habitual food consumption were questioned. Results: A total of 31 elderly patients, the prevalence of males, among the most prevalent comorbidities, highlighted Hypertension (SAH), as well as the presence of smoking. Overweight was evidenced in more than half of the population (n=13). There was daily consumption of beans (n=26), fruits (n=23), vegetables (n=20), and frequency of sugary drinks and sausages 3x/week. Conclusions: The patients, all elderly, had a clinical, nutritional and dietary profile with risk factors for the prevalence of chronic diseases associated with Diabetes Mellitus (DM), smoking, gender, age, overweight and frequent consumption of ultra-processed foods, but as a factor positive, there was also daily consumption of beans, fruits and vegetables.
