Abstract

The article offers update on a study on the reconfiguration of nanomechanical photonic metamaterials by nonthermal optical forces, conducted by a research group at the University of Southeampton's Optoelectronics Research Centre in the United Kingdom (UK). The research indicates the role of coupling optical and mechanical resonances in achieving optical nonlinearity. It suggests the potential application of nano-optomechanical metadevices for the development of photonic switching devices.
