Abstract

The purpose of the work is the identification of the elements of intercultural communication through the stories about the experience of Living in Chile of eighth grade students from Antofagasta, Chile. The method is biographical-narrative based on oral reports of a school case study, semi-structured interviews and content analysis of eight stories of adolescent students between 13 and 14 years old of the eighth grade of the basic year. The results reflect the need for a communicative immersion period at school for effective intercultural communication interaction in the verbal and non-verbal dimension. It is concluded that, in the entry, permanence and graduation of students to education, the importance of the support of the speech therapy professional for mediation and immersion in intercultural communication at school.
