Checklisten in der Medizin.

This mini-review highlights the success story of checklists in perioperative medicine. It provides a background to the introduction of medical checklists, the WHO Guidelines for Safe Surgery, and the most important checklist studies. We outline the advantages of checklists and possible difficulties in their implementation and provide examples of various checklists.
