Abstract

The installation of composite insulation material in canals will reduce the frost heave force of foundation soil and the displacement caused by uneven frost heave of canal slope plate. However, the research on the anti-freezing mechanism of composite insulation material in canals has not been proved. In this paper, the application of polymer material under the canal lining structure of Xinjiang Manas Power Station was taken as the actual engineering background. Considering the interaction between composite materials and the interaction between frozen soil and composite materials, the frost swelling model of concrete lining insulation structure in cold area was established according to the canal thermodynamic coupling mechanism, and three new composite insulation forms were proposed and analyzed by COMSOL Multiphysics5.2 a. The results show that compared with the conventional canal, the three thermal insulation methods have certain thermal insulation effect, and the third one has the most obvious frost resistance and thermal insulation effect. Under the action of this form, the maximum normal displacement of shady slope, sunny slope and base-plate is 9.63 cm, 4.74 cm and 1.87 cm respectively and compared with the prototype canal, the frost heaving force of form 1, form 2 and form 3 is reduced 65.8%, 76.2% and 89.5% respectively.
