Abstract

The article reports on the gasoline price increases in the U.S. driven by loss of oil refining capacity in California and Ohio and rising demand. Focus is given on the move by U.S. President Joe Biden to release oil from strategic reserves in response to gas price hikes. It informs about the plan of California Governor Gavin Newsom to call a legislative session to weigh a profits tax on energy firms. The impact of reduced oil production by OPEC Plus on crude oil prices is also discussed.
