Abstract

Electrical power generation from renewable sources increased rapidly because of increased environmental pollution. To meet the increased power demand, Doubly Fed Induction Generators are primarily used in variable speed wind turbines because of its economic factors such as Low cost, sizes, and low losses, and low maintenance due to increased penetration of wind power generation to power system grid; it is essential to analyze the influence of DFIG wind turbines on the power system network. The main drawback of DFIG is that it is very delicate to grid instabilities such as voltage dips. Hence in this paper, the operation of DFIG under steady-state and transient state has been studied with MATLAB/SIMULINK. An extensive simulation study investigates the transient overshoots and ripples present in rotor current, DC link voltage, and Electromagnetic Torque. This paper also analyzes how the asymmetrical voltage dip is severe than the symmetrical voltage dip. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
