Abstract
- Understanding of the mechanism of supernovae explosions has become a critical question since the detailed observation of SN1987A neutrinos. The influence of strong electron screening (SES) on electron capture (EC) plays a key role in supernovae explosions. Based on the random phase approximation (RPA) theory, using the shell-model Monte Carlo (SMMC) method, we have investigated the influence of SES on EC of iron group nuclei by the linear response theory model (LRTM) and the plasma sphere theory model (PSTM). The main highlight is that we discuss the EC by considering the corrections of the Q-value, the electron chemical potential, electron energy, the Coulomb wave correction factor and nuclear binding energy by SES. The screening rates decrease by ∼ 19.99 % and ∼ 36.50 % by PSTM and LRTM, respectively. We compare our screening results by LRTM with those of Fuller et al. (1980, 1982, 1985), Aufderheide et al. (1994), Nabi & Klapdor-Kleingrothaus (1999) and Martinez-Pinedo et al. (2000). Our screening rates can be lower about by one, two, two orders of magnitude and 31.58% than those of Aufderheide et al. (1994); Fuller et al. (1982), Nabi & Klapdor-Kleingrothaus (1999) and Martinez-Pinedo et al. (2000), respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
