Abstract
- The article discusses the architecture and key requirements of the radio unit (RU) for massive multiple-input multiple-output (mMIMO) wireless communication technology. Topics include the principal elements determining the performance of a mMIMO RU such as antenna and radio frequency signal chain, deployment of mMIMO RUs for open random access networks (O-RAN), and the design and initial measurement results of an RU for 5G band 77 using the AMD-Xilinx digital front-end and Versal processor.
