Abstract
- This article presents the repercussions of the philosophical hermeneutics (PH) in the education process of students linked to the project "Scientific Atelier: Aesthetic Experiences in Science Education". The Scientific Atelier (SA) is a collective space for the study, creation and planning of aesthetic experiences in science and mathematics. It seeks to promote an articulation between education through aesthetic experiences developed by students in exact sciences (physics, mathematics, and chemistry). We start from the concept of aesthetic experiences based on the studies of the philosophical hermeneutics by Hans-Georg Gadamer, to outline his contribution to the treatment of exact sciences, usually technical and instrumental. At SA, we aim to treat science and mathematics from a perspective linked to perception and interpretation as a search for (self)understanding of the one who perceives and interprets in the world. In this article, we start by presenting the foundations of the Scientific Atelier, and then we describe, supported by this foundation, one of the activities developed at the SA to highlight the contributions of the PH in the teacher's education from the information of scholarship holders of the project in what we call the Scientific Atelier Diary and in the Final Reports. The reports point to an education experience capable of sharpening the perception of future teachers insofar as it provides moments of estrangement in the face of the new, fosters an aesthetic attitude, values the authentic question, traditions, and different views of the world, providing a less instrumental and more ontological view of teaching.
