Abstract
- In the article, the author discusses the need for Americans to learn the lessons of history to avoid repeating it by comparing Americans' behavior to his 101-year-old mother who largely lost her memory. Also cited are the substantial decline in the number of college students studying history, the alleged collective amnesia of the American people, and a survey showing significant decline in knowledge of American history and government.
