This article seeks to analyse the political intervention of Friar Timóteo Pimentel in the period of the Restoration War, through the work Exhortação militar ou lança de Aquiles aos soldados portugueses pela defensão de seu Rei, reino e pátria em o presente apresto de guerra, dated from 1650. We wish to reflect on the role of this cleric as a supporter of the government of restored Portugal and the relationship he sought to have with the Portuguese populations amid the conflict of the Portuguese kingdom against Castile.
