Abstract

As seen in (52), when B /ki/ b follows the enclitic sequence B /mú/ b + B /hó/ b , it also blocks the bumping effect that B /hó/ b is expected to have on B /mú/ b : (52) a. Since HTB would require the verb to end with B -ir-é b with bumping of the final H to produce B -ír-e b , it will be necessary to cite forms with a H tone root such as B /-kóm-/ b "tie" in (27). Section 5): /mú/ bumps the H on the FV B /-é/ b onto B -ir- b , and B /hó/ b bumps the H of B /mú/ b back onto the B /-é/ b .
