Abstract
- The article discusses research on the role of non-medical prescribers (NMP) in treating patients with opiate analgesia dependence in primary care. The study describes the approach of a Benzodiazepine and Opiate Withdrawal Service (BOWS) to illustrate the role of NMPs in treating patients and the advantages of using NMPs. It outlines treatment and management options including stabilising medication, switching to and reducing dosage of diazepam and cognitive behavioural therapy.
