Crítica al realismo socialista desde una perspectiva marxista: La novela policial cubana según Desiderio Navarro y Leonardo Padura.

The socialist crime novel, cultivated exclusively in Cuba, had the unconditional support and praise of Cuban literary critics during the 1970s. Only a few authors like Leonardo Padura and Desiderio Navarro questioned the literary quality of this type of extremely politicized novel and lamented the attitude of the critics. However, both authors used revolutionary discourse to do so, and therefore adopted in their own Soviet origin terms and concepts. In this article I first examine what Padura and Navarro have written about the crime novel, in order to evaluate the importance of Marxist aesthetics to them and thus to understand the two authors' stances within an evolving political, social, and literary context.
