Abstract

The crystal structure of the [Pt(NH3)4]3Mo7O24·5.5H2O complex salt is determined for the first time by XRD. Thermal decomposition of this complex in reducing and inert atmospheres is studied. Intermediate and final products of thermal decomposition are determined. It is established that thermolysis in a reducing atmosphere leads to the formation of an ordered solid solution with the intermetallic Mo2Pt3 structure, while the final product of thermolysis in an inert atmosphere is a two-phase mixture of metallic platinum and molybdenum(IV) oxide.
