Abstract

This article conducted a survey of Unconventional Food Plants (PANC's) in Caruaru and Castanhal de Mari-mari, traditional communities located in Mosqueiro Island, Belém-PA. To obtain the data, dialogued interviews were conducted, directed by semi-structured forms. The collection of botanical material took place through guided tour, and the identification of species through specialized bibliographies. For qualitative analysis, the socioeconomic information was tabulated, as well as the compilation of the information of each indicated ethno-species, as a form of consumption and part used. In Caruaru, 79 ethnospecies were cited, and 36 were identified, where the most cited were the acai, Bacuri and Brazil nuts, and the most representative families were Lamiaceae, Malvaceae and Myrtaceae. In Mari-mari, 69 ethnospecies were indicated, 21 of which were identified, where the most cited were Cupuassu, Uxi and Mari, highlighting the families Anacardiaceae, Lamiaceae and Sapotaceae. Regarding the indices, in Caruaru, the Use Value (UVs), have the acai (2.167), Bacuri (2.167), Brazil nut (1.500) and Uxi (1.333) with the highest values. While Consensus of Use (UCs) stands out the same ethnospecies, Açai (0.667), Bacuri (0.222), Brazil nuts (0.222) and Uxi (0.000). For the Mari-mari community, the largest (UVs) stand out for Cupuaçu (1,900), Chicory (1,400), Uxi and cassava with equal values (0.900). For Consensus of Use (CUs) were Cupuassu (0.600), uxi (0.400), Mari (0.222) and Chicory (0.000). The results showed the importance of PANCs for subsistence and as a source of income for communities.
