Abstract
- The article discusses relations between the intraclass correlation and the Kuder-Richardson reliability formulas. The intraclass correlation coefficient based upon analysis of variance concepts is now widely used to secure estimates of inter-rater reliability. Psychologist A.L. Ebel proposed use of this index and indicated its relation to other estimates of reliability such as the product-moment correlation, average inter-rater correlation, and Horst's generalized reliability coefficient. Earlier psychologist C. Hoyt also developed an estimate of reliability based on analysis of variance.
