Abstract

The article cites a study that focuses on quantitative indicators of suicide. Researcher of the study compared patients who have completed suicide with a sample of patients who have made "serious" attempts, another sample who had made "mild" attempts and to a third "no-attempters" group, who did not make a suicide attempt before or during hospitalization. There were 40 patients in the study. These patients were rated in two groups using the "Lethality of Intent" and "Lethality of Method" scales. Patients who were rated 7 or higher when the two scales were added remained in the serious group.
