Abstract
- This article focuses on performance of male prisoners on the Marlowe-Crowne social desirability scale (M-C SDS). This study investigated the relation between age, intelligence, social class, 11 MMPI scales and the performance on the Marlowe-Crowne Social Desirablity Scale of 80 white male prisoners. Age and social class were not correlated, and intelligence was negatively correlated, with M-C SDS scores. The prisoner group had a significantly higher mean SD score than did the normative group, but since I.Q. was negatively related to SD, and the normative group was probably of brighter intelligence, this difference may be artifactual.
